As the Art West Prize gets bigger, this year we have called upon a prominent artist and a gallery owner/curator to judge the Prize.
The exhibition of selected artworks is held at the Art West Gallery in the Mount Ommaney Centre.
Open to the public between 10am and 4pm daily from
Tuesday May 17th until Saturday June 25th 2022.

Celebrating the dedication and talent of local artists,
the Art West Prize has become one of the most significant local awards for painting, photography and 3D artworks.
The Art West Prize 2022 will be selected from around 130 works where one work will be selected as the overall winner and all other works are eligible for their various categories, the Hangers Choice Award, and the People's Choice Award.
Awarded annually by Art West Community Gallery for the work judged the best contemporary artwork created by it's local artist member group.
The aim is to stimulate conversations about the meaning and possibilities expressed in the exhibited artworks whilst making them available to the public.
The Art West Prize culiminates in a wonderful exhibition in our Mount Ommaney Gallery. Visitors welcome, entry is free and all works are available for sale.
Robyn is a Brisbane based artist well known for her paintings and drawings of the urban environment of Brisbane, its houses and street scenes particularly the inner city areas of Paddington, Red Hill and Mt Coot-tha. She can often be seen with her easel, painting in the streets around the suburbs. She has a particular love for the old trees that line the streets, the magnificent old Fig Trees have provided worthy subjects. She has won numerous awards for her Brisbane paintings of the older inner city suburbs.
She was made a Fellow of the Royal Queensland Art Society in 2019 and has had many successful solo exhibitions and won numerous awards.
She produces a new series of work every year and in 2020 broke new ground with her still life paintings of cultural objects, plants and art history references. She is currently painting full time from her Paddington based studio.
Margaret is the Owner and Director of Red Hill Gallery and for 22 years has curated the gallery on a daily basis. This involves the design, structure and scheduling of the monthly feature exhibition program. The management, support and mentoring of over 125 Australian artists and her internship program for art students is well renowned.
The curatorship, organisation, planning and presentation of exhibitions have been a natural progression from Margaret’s extensive experience in fashion, retail and event management. Her unique skills and talents have made Red Hill Gallery one of Australia’s leading art galleries.
Margaret also created and collaborated on special event exhibitions such as the Brisbane Hilton Hotel’s 21st Birthday and Stamford Plaza Hotel’s 20th birthday celebrations.
Her contribution to the development of Brisbane’s community is endless including her 12-year tenure as an elected Director of Brisbane City Heart Business Association.
