Art West Community Gallery had been asked By St Vincent de Paul, Inala, to conduct an Art Workshop for some of their Somali  clients. An art class was held on 4 October by three members of the Art West Community, a community commitment of Art West. The clients enjoyed the activity and worked intently. Some of their work in charcoal and pastel is illustrated below.

Art West Community Gallery was approached in  May by the President of the P&C at Jamboree Heights State School with an invitation to participate in their Jazz, Art and Wine Fundraiser Event planned for October. This may involve Art West setting up a promotion table and also donating a piece of artwork to be auctioned . The School wishes to engage the broader community at this event. Art West embraces this idea and appreciates the platform for marketing our group.

A Certificate of Appreciation was presented to Art West and in October members were invited to attend the school's annual Art and Photography Evening. A gift of appreciation from teachers and students was presented to members Antoinette Wijeyakulasuriya and Jude Pittard.

Glenleighden Special School Fundraising Function at QUT Kelvin Grove was attended by Jude Pittard and Steve Norris.

Three of our member artists, Marius van Tonder, Meredith Lennon and Jude Pittard donated several works to   be auctioned at this event.

Most  art works were sold with the funds raised going towards the school providing art materials for the students' use.
