March 2021 will see the introduction of the 'Art West Abstract Prize'. With entries now open, this will be a popular prize amongst our artist members so make a note in your diary to come along to see the talent on display. Opens Tuesday March 16th and runs until Saturday May 15th 2021.

Whilst in the gallery take the time to vote for your favorite in the People's Choice Prize. The artist that receives the highest number of votes will win the Peoples Choice Prize. One person, who submits a vote, will be drawn randomly from all the votes received and will win: a Voucher valued at $100 from Art West.
Abstract is art that does not attempt to represent an accurate depiction of a visual reality but instead uses shapes, colours, forms and gestural marks to achieve its effect.  The Abstract Prize entry can be based on an object, figure or landscape, where forms have been simplified or schematised. This also applies to using forms, such as geometric shapes or gestural marks, which have no source at all in an external visual reality.
