Creative Flow in Watercolour: Ian North Workshop Wrap-Up

Art West Community Gallery recently welcomed artists and art lovers to a relaxed and inspiring watercolour workshop led by Ian North — and what a wonderful session it was.

Participants spent the day exploring the beauty of flowing colour and expressive leaf forms, discovering techniques that brought a real sense of movement and life to their work. From soft washes to more defined botanical shapes, the workshop offered a balance of guidance and creative freedom.

Designed to be accessible for all skill levels, the session saw a mix of beginners and more experienced artists working side by side. For some, it was their first time picking up a brush, while others enjoyed the opportunity to expand their existing practice in a supportive and welcoming environment.

With all materials provided, attendees were able to simply settle in and enjoy the process — something that was clearly reflected in the relaxed atmosphere and the beautiful works created throughout the day.

Workshops like this are a great reminder of how creativity can connect people, build confidence, and spark new ideas. It was fantastic to see everyone embracing the experience and leaving with both new skills and a sense of accomplishment.
