Margaret Turner Demo

We were delighted to host a special in-gallery demonstration this week with member artist Margaret Turner, who generously shared her time, experience, and creative process with visitors.

Margaret is a traditional Australian artist working primarily in oils and soft pastels, with a strong focus on landscape and the expressive use of light and atmosphere. Her formal art journey began more than 35 years ago in Canberra, where early tuition in oil landscape painting — and exposure to soft pastel techniques — sparked a lasting passion for both mediums.

During the demonstration, Margaret spoke about her love of pastel for its softness, colour range, and ability to convey mood and subtle light effects.

Attendees gained valuable insight into materials, approach, and artistic decision-making, making it an inspiring and informative session for artists. We extend our sincere thanks to Margaret for presenting such a thoughtful and engaging demonstration for the Artwest community.
