Bill Duffield
Bill's interest in art began in childhood, and he first explored landscape painting while training as a teacher. Following a 44-year teaching career, he returned to art more seriously after retiring in 2011. Since then, he has painted continuously, primarily in acrylics, while also teaching drawing classes along the way. Working across a variety of mediums including pencil, ink, acrylic and watercolour, Bill has recently developed an interest in gel plate printing and collage. Inspired by the textures of tree bark, landforms and expressive mark-making, he creates abstract and semi-abstract works. Influenced by Impressionist artists and the work of Gustav Klimt, Bill gives his paintings evocative titles that encourage viewers to form their own interpretations.
