Kate Hessling
Kate Hessling is an Australian contemporary artist living in Brisbane and surrounded by wildlife and natural bushland. As a self-taught artist Kate enjoys challenging herself and experimenting with different ideas and subject matters exploring the boundless possibilities of abstract expressionism.
Her approach is generally to reimagine the world around her and try to capture this on canvas through the use of colours, shapes, patterns, brushstrokes and marks. These re-imaginings are inspired by objects, locations, nature and sometimes just abstract ideas and concepts and she strives to constantly evolve through embracing creativity, change, and new and exciting challenges.
Kate grew up in a creative family around the visual and written arts and has experimented with a range of activities including sculpting, clay hand-building and glass fusing before moving into watercolour abstracted landscapes and now more expressionist abstracts in acrylic.
Her work has been in displayed in a number of exhibitions, including her own solo show, and she is also a member of the Royal Queensland Art Society (Brisbane).
