Leonie Seabrook
I am a visual artist based in Brisbane. My main art practice is in watercolour, both traditional and avant-garde. I also enjoy drawing and experimenting with acrylics and mixed media. I have a great love of nature and natural history, and this influences my art. I paint an eclectic range of subjects including wildlife, birds, landscapes and seascapes, urban scenes, people and pets.
There something paintable in most things and I aim to capture the light and beauty in everything around me from a tiny beetle to the vast Australian outback. Painting and other art forms meet my need for a creative outlet. Art has provided me with essential mental and emotional therapy when times have been tough. In particular, watercolour brings a joy and exhilaration that is unmatched by other mediums.
Since 2019, I have exhibited and won awards at art shows, including the Annual Exhibition of the Watercolour Society of Queensland, the Royal Queensland Show (EKKA), and the Brookfield, Ipswich and Mt. Gravatt Shows. My paintings have also been selected for the online gallery of the Australian Watercolour Muster.
