Paul V Ross
I was born in Rockhampton in 1952 and was educated, married and worked there until 2003 when I moved to Chapel Hill, QLD. I worked as a pathology laboratory scientist until 2019 when I retired after a career spanning 45 years.
I enjoy oil painting and playing the guitar. I had some lessons in water colour painting during my school days and won a few prizes in the Rockhampton Agricultural Show. Due to commitments of work and raising a family my art career was put on hold until retirement.
I have been painting in oils since 2020 and I am self taught. My favourite subjects are landscapes, seascapes, nature and still life. My style could be described as a mix of realism and impressionism. Inspiration is drawn from photographs from my own catalogue and those of gifted amateur photographers.
I was a finalist in The Doyles Art Prize in 2022 and 2024. I regularly exhibit and sell my work at Art West Community Galley, Indooroopilly. I have produced a number of commissioned works.
